Introduction to Criminal Investigations
This course is provided by the Food Standards Agency and is free of charge to local authority officers.
Who should attend?
This course is aimed at Port Health Officers but is relevant to any food officer whose work involves the investigation of criminal offences including:
- Environmental Health Practitioners
- Trading Standards Officers
Unfortunately we cannot accept students or independent consultants on this course.
This is a basic introduction to the subject and so will suit those who are new to the area or are seeking refresher training.
About the Programme
The course aims to provide an overview of Criminal Investigations. The course will help delegates to:
- Appreciate the offences and defences available under relevant criminal law.
- Recognise the Rules of Evidence and where to apply them.
- Develop interviewing skills.
- Enhance Statement writing skills.
- Understand the requirements of RIPA and CPIA.
- Undertake Tape Recorded PACE interviews.
